Narrative
Monseed family (Menispermaceae) has about 525 species organized into about 78 genera. There are eight species organized into five genera found in the greater North American area, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Most of the members of this family are tropical and sub-tropical vines (with a few trees and herbs). The mostly entire leaves are alternate and mostly palmately veined with petioles. The flowers are usually tiny.
